                              Windows 7 is the new version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems made by the Microsoft Inc. owned by Bill Gates. It is produced for various personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, and tablet PC’s. Windows 7 was officially released for manufacturing on July 22, 2009 and was available in the market on October 22, 2009. It is available in six different editions. First is the Starter edition, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate edition. Microsoft offers a family pack of Windows 7 in selected markets, the Home Premium Edition that allows installation on up to three PCs.
                             The minimum hardware requirements or specifications for Windows 7 basically in 32-bit architecture are 1 Gigahertz 32-bit processor, 1GB Random Access Memory(RAM), DirectX 9 graphics processor, 16 Gb for free disk space(HDD) and DVD drive for the installation of the DVD/CD media provided in windows 7 package.

                               It is written in C, C++ and Assembly. Microsoft Inc. codenamed Windows 7 as “Blackcomb” as the successor to Windows XP codenamed as “whistler” and Windows Vista codenamed as “LongHorn”. “Blackcomb” was renamed as “Vienna” in early 2006 and finally named as Windows 7 in 2007.
                           Windows 7 has new features such as improvement in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance. The taskbar has the major visual changes, where the Quick launch toolbar has been replaced with pinning applications to the taskbar and integrated task buttons. This feature will allow easy access to your common tasks. There are also new items added to the Control Panel including Clear Type, Text Tuner, Display Color Calibration Wizard, Gadgets, Recovery, Troubleshooting, Workspaces Center, Location and Other Sensors, Credential Manager, Biometric Devices, System Icons, and Display. Windows 7 surpassed both Windows XP and Windows Vista in some key areas including boot performance and loading files and documents. PC World named Windows 7 as one of the best products of the year. It is also given many positive comments and reviews by other organizations like the "The New York times", "Pc Magazine" and "CNET".
